I don't know about you, but I prefer encouraging words to discouraging ones, positives messages to negative warnings. And as we turn the corner from 2008 to 2009, the media is full of discouraging, negative reports. We hear them everywhere, and if we aren't careful, we'll begin to believe them-and to live accordingly.

Does that mean none of those negative messages are true? Of course not. Many of them may be-and worse. But bad tidings and doomsday warnings should not dictate the tenor of our hearts or the fulfillment of our calling.

There is a common saying among Christians that we have "read the end of the Book-and we win!" There is no greater ending to any book than that very positive truth, my friends. Howeverif you've read the entire Book (and I certainly hope you have, many times over!), you know that we are not promised a problem-free existence in this world as we await that victorious final chapter.

And that's where the fear comes in. We let our focus drift from the final outcome to the temporal circumstances, and we forget that it's not up to us grit our teeth, pull ourselves up by the bootstraps, and somehow overcome impossible trials and challenges. God is the One-the only One-who can carry us through, safely and victoriously, to the end. And He has given us all we need to hang on to during the ride: the blood of the Lamb, which paid our price for sin and restored us to relationship with the Father; the ability to proclaim the gospel to all who will listen; and the perfect love that flows from the throne of God and melts away the fear of death with the promise of eternal life with Him.

That's all we will ever need, beloved. Regardless of what the world might throw at us in this New Year, we have the promise and the provision of God that enables us to look past the temporal and into the eternal, to keep our eyes fixed on the Prize and our hearts yearning for heaven. Nothing here can begin to compare for the things God has prepared for us once we pass from this life to the next. So rejoice in the New Year, my friends; don't be discouraged by negative reports, and remember, the best is yet to be!

Nightime Fishing Safety

The same thing happens every year. By mid-summer people are complaining about the heat and don't want to fish. Most people are ready to stop this time of year before noon. That's why I am here, to share a secret with you about fishing in South Texas at night. At night, it is of course cooler outside, but also the water cools down and those big speckled trout start to really move and feed. There is nothing like catching one of these big fish at night, when you can't even see them explode on your lure. Here I will show you how to fish, where to go, and when to do it.

There are many bad things that can happen while fishing at night if you aren't careful. For this reason you should never fish along at night-time. Here are some tips to keep you safe:

* Make sure you or your fishing partner are very familiar with the area and that all of your night time navigational equipment is fully functional.

* Always wear your life jacket while motoring the boat.

* Be sure to leave a trip plan with someone back home.

* Plan out your trip, including your first several fishing spots.

HOW: When you get to the first fishing spot, anchor up and turn the boat light on. This can keep other watercraft from running into it, as well as giving you a sense of direction while walking around in the dark. Next, you need a LED headlamp to wear. These are a must-have piece of fishing equipment, and are available pretty cheaply in most sporting goods stores.

In addition to the headlamps, get some glow sticks as well. These are the type that activate and light up when you bend/crack/shake them. What you do is tie the glow stick to some string and hang it like a necklace, draping down over your back. This will also help to prevent boaters from coming too close, and keep your fishing partner from hitting you with a lure. Worst case scenario, it can also be a good emergency backup light to get to the boat. While wading, don't get too far apart.

WHEN: I have had my best luck around a full moon. The moon light helps silhouette your baits, thus making for any easy target for a hungry trout out on the prowl! Try tying a 10 to 12 inch leader to the first snap ring, next to the treble hook. Rig a 1/6th oz jig head with a plum or morning glory colored plastic (dark colors) and tie it on the leader (called Donk's tangler).

It's a bit unusual, but it works surprisingly well. The action you need to work the rig is the same as any other topwater lure, but now you have the added benefit of fish striking the extra plastic lure. For me, braided line works the best in this situation because you can feel every bump and nibble on that second lure.

Solunar tables can be another useful tool. What I try to do is fish two hours before through 2 hours after what the tables call a "major feeding period". This tends to have the best results for me, but isn't a guarantee by any means.

WHERE: There are many places in South Texas to go for Trophy Trout. I fish all around Baffin Bay, including Alazan Bay and East Kleberg point. Hopefully these tips work well for you, TIGHT LINES!

Mania Phase

If not on the depressive state, person can be experiencing the manic phase. The symptoms that are manifested by the affected person are the exact opposite of that of the depressive state. Same as the depressive episode, the behaviors manifested here can be due to known or unknown causes and may last from days to weeks depending on the severity of the disorder.

Mixed Period

On the other hand, during the mixed period, both the bipolar symptoms of the depressive episode and the manic episode can be manifested at the same time. This could last for one week up to a couple of weeks. The mixed episode can be considered as more dangerous and can cause more social impairment in the daily functioning and work situations since the symptoms present are of both the depressive and manic phases. Additionally, when the symptoms of depressive and manic episodes are occurring all at once, it becomes more difficult to treat the disorder and it is harder to predict the behavior of the person.

Most of the cases of bipolar disorder are more often confused with other health conditions and substance abuse. This is one of the main reasons why most cases of bipolar disorders are diagnosed at later stages when the condition has already worsened.

It is important to know the symptoms of bipolar disorder so that you are able to treat them once the symptoms are identified. This mental disorder can be termed as dangerous because it can lead to suicide and death. It is advisable to get some help as to prevent these from happening.

It is believed that he wrote her a love letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today.

Although the truth behind all the Valentine legends is murky, the legends emphasize Valentine's appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and, romantic figure. It's no great surprise then that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France. From that popular tradition it was easy enough for merchants to seize upon the "a Valentine for lovers" theme and suggest that giving gifts, if only a "Valentines" card, was the right thing to do. Before long there was even a special day, February 14, set aside for the custom.

- Focus on your career, education, fitness, and goals. Being in a relationship can distract you from your own dreams and aspirations. Being single gives you the time you need to focus on other things that are important to you.

- Try to improve yourself. In a relationship, most of your energy will be spent supporting your partner. When you're single, you can use that energy to get yourself to where you want to be!

So remember to enjoy the time that you are single when you next start to get down because you're not dating someone. Before long you'll be married and settled down. Enjoy it while you can.

Carol went into the hospital for a ruptured cyst. Her bill for the 3 days of hospitalization was $12000. Carol must pay $3000 to meet her deductible, that leaves $9000. She then must pay 20%. So she will pay $3000 + $1800 for a total out of pocket of $4800. the insurer will pay $7200.

Risking going without insurance can be costly as you can see by the example. A trip to the hospital can be a big expense to you. If you had to pay it all out of pocket you may be in financial trouble.

Marriage is a cycle of life, and while we have a lot of good days, we all have our fair share of bad days too. Recently I had a bad day, one of those ones where it felt like all the things around me were being sent to challenge me. As much as I try my best to be one of those people who doesn't let their moods rule them, my usual store of patience had evaporated by the time I got home and I was totally immersed in the events that had been going on around me.

I'm told by others that I have a transparent personality. This means that I see and feel things quite keenly, and speak about it. I'm told by others that that's a good thing. You always know where you stand with people like that, and if you love them or you disappoint them you are always made aware of it. However, one other character trait that I possess is that I set very high standards for myself and the way I conduct myself around others, always careful to show the appropriate amount of love and respect to those that are close to me. The downside is that I set the same high standards for those around me and am disappointed when they let me down. I was talking to a friend about it last night, looking for ways to find meaning from the hurt I was feeling at being let down by a loved one, and she told me the most poignant thing:

"You feel disappointment so keenly because you love people so much"

So is it the same when we feel disappointed or let down by our partners? Do we feel disappointment or hurt so keenly because we put our partners up on such a pedestal and expect them to always get it right? This was perhaps a little more complicated than I had first anticipated, and it made me wonder whether the fault was on them for not living up to our expectations or standards, or whether our standards were in fact what was at fault. Is it fair to expect the same level of respect and love that you offer so freely to those that you love?

I tell myself that I must lower my expectations of others and that I will do so in what they expect of me, but the reality is that I seem unable to do so I think the world of my friends. If I love someone I feel compelled to share this thought with them so that they might know that they are valued, and I constantly live in hope that the same feelings are felt in return.

But in taking a closer look, we realize that this is part of what love is about. Sharing our feelings of connection with others, and letting them know that what they do is valued. We feel a sense of togetherness when we are able to share our feelings with others. Love is also what keeps us coming back for more, keeps us trying to do things better, and helps us to keep trying even when we feel let down.

So how do we let go of the hurt?

Some would say that unconditional love is giving love without the expectation of reciprocation. But it doesn't make it any easier. A key of loving those around you is knowing that they too share the same values as you, and that they will be there to help and support you when you most need it. Knowing that quitting isn't an option, and that the benefit of hanging in there is going to deliver benefits to both of you is what keeps many people going. Telling your partner about your feelings and expectations is a hard thing to do, and exposes you to a certain amount of vulnerability. There is also the fear that your comments can be taken the wrong way, or that they can be used against you or interpreted as a criticism.

It's not about criticism. It's about helping your partner see why you feel the way you do. It's about helping communicate a part of what makes you tick. It may not be perfect, and it feels scary, but that is one of the most valuable parts of this exercise. In talking to a partner about how you are feeling and what exactly leads you to feel these feelings is a key part of intimacy. It's about getting to know each other better.

And realising that loving someone is about loving them even when they let you down.
